Evan’s “Demo Reels” course has raised my game!

This course has given me the insight and much needed knowledge to be confident with the quality and presentation of the production of my music in order to be successful in securing film composing work. I feel very fortunate to have the advice & guidance from someone who has had many years of experience as a successful film composer, and Evan is coming straight from his heart to help and educate. I highly recommend this course!

Good ValueThe "demo reels" course definitely was a lot of bang for a few bucks.

    CONS:
Three instead of five stars due to the mismanagement of time and ill structured presentation. However, if watching the replay video, allowing the ability to fast forward through dead time, this deserves a five-star rating! The presenter opened the floor to questions but when participants asked questions-- the presenter kept putting them off to answer them at the end of the session, or in the next "segment".

A lot of time was wasted greeting participants, waiting for the presenter to figure out his own technology and waiting for him to delve into the material anticipated as well as again re-directing questions to wait until the end of the course. A good facilitator would field questions and give answers when asked.

The course was advertised as a one-hour session but after two hours the bulk of the material had not yet been divulged. The course could be much better if time management and materials covered were handled more efficiently. The course could have benefited from an outline or syllabus that the presenter followed specifically and efficiently.

    PROS:
The course gave some valid tips based on the presenter's real life professional experience and helped composers understand what is most important when developing quality demo reels for pitching professional jobs.

If you have a good chunk of time to kill, it's enjoyable to spend time with fellow composers and hear their ideas and comments.

A very large chunk of time was spent listening to music from the participants. This is both good and bad. If you don't have time for that sort of thing it's better to watch the replay video and fast-forward. However, listening to other composers was both insightful and inspiring and the presenter's feedback was educational, shedding light on what to aim for in a submission.

Suggestion: Watch the replay video so you won't have to wait three hours for all the information anticipated--fast forward. If you watch the replay video, this is a four star review. If the presenter had edited the replay video to cut out all the dead time this would have been a five star review

CONCLUSION: The demo reels course has very useful information gleaned from a professional composer's real-world experience. At a minimal cost, it is well worth it. However, due to the extreme length and loose structure of the course, watching the replay video may be a more efficient use of your time.

Excellent CourseThis course gives you a lot of good information on what you should do regarding your demo reels. Lots of insight from someone that has been doing this for a long time. Made me look at what I was doing and realized it's not the best way to go. Highly recommend this course.

Valuable *not so obvious* informations. A course to take. What I found really useful in this course in the *experience* they clearly come from.
You may come to some of the informations/considerations that Evan is giving in this course through speculation BUT what you'll not be able to do is *prove* they're right or not.
This is, in my experience, where the course comes in: I now know from an experienced person what I was right and wrong about and I don't need to waste time in a "trial and error" process about how to present demo music. Recommended.

This course gives hope to film composers like me!"Demo Reels" gives the composer a more focused approach on how to appropriately prepare demos in the film industry. Not only Evan Evans guides you in the right direction, he gives you his own experiences which possibly is more valuable than just making your own demos. It's remarkable how much I've learned in this course. I feel fortunate to take this course as well as "How to Get Film Scoring Gigs". Both courses go hand in hand. Thank you Evan.

"Demo Reels" is a Must! The Demo Reels course totally changed my thinking on what I need to do to create viable music submissions that have the best chance of giving me a competitive edge in being selected for scoring jobs. Had I not taken this course I’m sure I would just be another unnoticed small fish in a pond. Perhaps I should have taken this course before the course in “How to Get Film Scoring Jobs”, but to be honest, both of these courses fit seamlessly and synergistically together. I highly recommend that you take them both to give you the best chance of success in this field.

This course is especially relevant for those starting out in the field or those who have limited experience in film scoring like me. I now have a lot of work to do to put all these ideas and suggestions into practice. Thanks for another great course Evan!
